AC Shadows Reveals Bizarre Attack on Titan Collaboration for Holiday Season
In a bizarre crossover event that defies traditional forecasts, Ubisoft has unveiled an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising Thanksgiving event operates from November 25 through December 22, offering no-cost extra story content for Shadows players.
Peculiar Mission Disclosed
According to the formal release, "A strange encounter pulls characters Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh mission, where rumors of forbidden rituals and monstrous metamorphoses echo through the darkness." The plot introduces a "strangely dressed woman named Ada" who charges the duo with journeying into the Crystal Cave—a important location from Attack on Titan—to save her friend from a clandestine group.
The adventure centers on "peculiar trials and a fearsome enemy" and is accessible to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Familiar Locations and Metamorphoses
The preview features the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was previously where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The trailer finishes with a powerful sequence showing a character, likely the hostage, transforming into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Exclusive Prizes and Extra Material
Players who finish the quest will obtain an exclusive katana together with several items secreted throughout the area in secret chests. The update also features purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:
- Titan-inspired attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Unique weapons
- Survey Corps vehicle
Third Free Story Addition
This update also adds the game's newest free story addition, titled "The Mystery." This lighthearted adventure partners Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange distinctive abilities: Naoe reveals a dramatic variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-fatal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Mystery" also features a fresh environmental puzzle that may ultimately explain some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

This signifies hardly the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with popular anime franchises. The series earlier featured a 2020 collaborative story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla unofficially contained a quest that clearly echoed the popular series One-Punch Man.
