Presence Film

Steven Soderbergh challenges his directorial skills with this nifty supernatural story filmed completely from the viewpoint of the spirit. The Black Phone Horror

However, the old telephone on the wall repeatedly calls, with spooky callers giving advice, and the intuitive nightmares from his sibling Gwen could save him. An effective horror. October 11th, 10.50pm, Film4

The Tammy Faye Biopic

In the conflict between spirituality and money, it's a knockout win for materialism in this director's wonderfully garish film adaptation regarding the shamed TV preacher plus her lawbreaking partner. Andrew Garfield acts as the corrupt Bakker, who proclaims initially, “God does not want us to be poor,”. Both individuals commence capitalizing on the people's spiritual convictions. It's a spectacle of poor styling, bad makeup and bad faith, yet the lead actress succeeds to show the character with compassion. Tuesday 14 October, 1.15am, on Film4

Black Bag

The current week's second offering by the same director delivers a espionage tale as precise as the polo necks worn by Michael Fassbender's British agent. The two stars excel of understated style, resulting in an engaging psychological game of fact versus fiction takes place. Additional actors join in the smart espionage amusement.
